Epic Shackleton Expedition

The Alexandra Shackleton is a replica of the James Caird, the boat that Ernest Shackleton sailed with 5 crew to get rescue for his men trapped on Elephant Island in the Weddell Sea. 800 miles and 17 days later the James Caird reached South Georgia and had his men rescued.

Arctic explorer and Team Leader Tim Jarvis is recreating the journey leaving Elephant Island in January 2013. The Alexandra Shackleton is in Portland Marina undertaking sea trials in the harbour and Weymouth Bay until it is transported to South America in November to begin her historic journey.
